So, you’re considering a newborn session for your baby? You’ll find lots of helpful information below. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
When should I book my Session?
Ideally you should confirm a booking as soon as possible after your 20 week scan, to ensure an available appointment. As we all know babies rarely arrive on their due date so don’t worry, I will provisionally book you in approximately one week after your due date. As soon as baby arrives you can contact me to confirm a suitable day/time for the session. Photography is best done when the baby is between 6-12 days old, this
is the best time to capture those beautiful sleepy shots.
My baby has already been born is it too late to book?
No! Although I usually book clients in advance I do have some space available so please don’t hesitate to get in touch even if your baby has already arrived. If your baby is older than 2 weeks it is still possible to capture beautiful photos. They may not be as posed, but we still have lots of options.
Where will the session take place?
The session will take place in the comfort of your own home. My newborn sessions are unique as I capture both documentary images along with some more traditional posed images of your newborn. The baby’s needs then dictate the flow of the session. I don’t need a lot of space, I work with natural light and all I need is a window. Once you have booked your session I will discuss all the details with you like where the best light is in your home etc. I am based in Co. Meath, and I travel to Dublin and other surrounding areas.
How long will the session last?
Newborn sessions can take between 2 and 4 hours. I do not rush the session and I always allow for baby to take as many breaks as needed including feeding changing etc. I want the session to be as relaxing as possible for everyone and the baby’s comfort and safety is my priority.
Do you provide the props and hats etc or do we have to bring them?
Yes, I provide blankets props, hats and some outfits (to see some examples click here). I do like to keep things simple. If you do have something of your own you want included in the session I will be happy to discuss this with you.
